Hold Onto the Good Things

The end of the year always brings me to a time of reflection. I look back over the year, and I think of the good things, and I think of the bad. Now it's human nature to take those bad things and hold onto them, but we shouldn't do that.
If we've committed terrible sins, and we've asked God to forgive us for those sins, then they are forgiven. God doesn't remember them anymore. As a matter of fact Psalm 103:12 says, "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us."
So if God has forgotten our sins, why do we hold onto them? Why do we let the guilt of the past keep us imprisoned? John 8:36 tells us, "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
Christ has freed us from our sin. He has made us a white as snow. So as you think back over the year, remember the lessons you've learned, not the guilt of your sin. Hold onto the good things. Remember the joy of God's total forgiveness.
