He'll Whisper Peace

Have you seen the newest commercial for hotels.com? This couple walks into a hotel room, raving about how nice it is. Then the husband says, "It's so peaceful." His wife then walks out on the balcony only to realize that their hotel overlooks a graveyard. Then the whole spiel about knowing about the place you're going to stay before you get there starts.
The message of the commercial was pretty much that sometimes what you think is peace really isn't peace at all. Of course hotels.com was offering peace of mind about picking a hotel.
But the deeper message is true about everything in life. We think we've found peace when we find the right relationship. We think we've found peace when we have the right car. We think we've found peace when we have the right job. We think we've found peace when we pick the perfect vacation spot.
Thing is that none of that brings peace. None of that brings lasting happiness or joy. That can only come from one source. And that ONE SOURCE is Jesus Christ.
I talked a bit about this in this post from last week. Through this commercial He reminded me once again that there is only one place I should look for peace. Because the One who whispered "Peace, be still" to the winds and waves in Mark 4:39 is the only one who can whisper peace into my life today.
